I recently purchased a 100mm macro lens for my camera. I’ve not been able to test it in a great scale yet, but watch this space when life starts popping up outdoors in the next few weeks. While we are waiting you might like to have a look at these two as well. Leaf 2, leaf 3 (with extension ring).

Traveling again
It seems that I always am out traveling. Not really, but I just came back from a little winter holiday. Norwegians have a lot of vacation protected by law. I guess this is some of the benefits of living in one of the Scandinavian countries.
My last visit was to Gran Canaria, one of the Canary islands. One morning I woke up early and went for a walk on the beach outside our hotel. Not many people visible, but I saw some traces of life.
All these images are also available at my flickr account
When in Rome …
We are visiting Rome, and for the first time I got an inkling about how many 5 million starlings are (also see BBC).

A macro world
I played around with my extension rings and my 50 mm 1.4 lens this weekend and maybe I got some of the last few insects and flowers of the summer/autumn on "film". I haven’t been able to test out all of my extension rings since I bought them earlier this summer.
This weekend though, I just felt that I had to do something. So this is one of my lucky shots. This bastard fled just a few seconds later. Actually I only got this one picture of this fly.
What’s in a name?
Cloudberry is the English name for "Multe". This one of the names where I think the English name is a lot better than the Norwegian one. I guess the Norwegian name is old and have a lot of history back to the Old Norse language, but just read the English name. Cloud… berry…
The name says it all, they are found in the clouds.
When visiting my family this summer I also managed to pick a few cloudberries up in the mountains above my home village. And among the picking I also managed to attempt a few photographs of berries with the mountains and sky in the background. It didn’t turn out that magnificent, but I have to experiment in order to get better.
