I had been working late at a customer of ours and was walking through an underpass below the railway track on Skøyen in Oslo, Norway when I spotted this little curious effect on one of the concrete walls. On one wall there was a lot of graffiti and text, on the opposite wall there was a hole letting through the yellow light from the streetlights nearby. The light created a spotlight effect on the wall with all the graffiti. One word lit up, and the contrast was so hard that most other “art” was hidden in the dark.
So, my girlfriend and I had a little weekend in Sweden lately. While we were there we drove around and among else we noticed these two signs. In Norway we have a lot of weird crossing signs, among else reindeer and cows, but both of these were new to me.
I think this is called iridescent clouds (perlemorsskyer). Sunday evening these marvelous clouds were visible above Oslo, Norway. I ran out with my camera in hand and just held the shutter button down until my camera needed a break.

I found this little goodie today on cracked.com. My initial thought was: "Hey they have a Norwegian dish on the list", but after I read it I felt that some things were missing. After all they do water out the lye before they eat the fish. But as entertainment … a fun read.

A while back I visited Edinburgh in Scotland. There they had a lot of strange solutions for adding stairs to their buildings. Among else this one. You can’t put on too much weight in order to enter or exit this building.
When I find a company name like this I am always left a bit curious. Where did they get the inspiration for this name.
