National laws vs Internet

I’ve been out travelling and thus this site has not been updated for a few days. But when I found this little article I had to give it some consideration. A site in Canada hosted musical scores that where in the public domain in Canada, but an Austrian music publisher felt that if you put anything online then you have to follow all the laws of EVERY nation in the world. (They were actually speaking of copyright laws, but … ). Now this has some considerable effects. Do they really think that a web shop can follow all the laws of every nation when it comes to e-commerce? This has to be resolved – very quickly!
